Mountain Shadows was the perfect place for our daughters' wedding. The house was spacious enough for the whole family, we cooked the rehearsal dinner and had plenty of room and the wedding was just gorgeous!! We were thrilled to have both the wedding and reception outside and although the weather was cold, the barn stayed warm with the heaters and blankets. The beautiful views made all the photos amazing. We even enjoyed shopping at the nearby small grocery store and found everything we needed. Even if not for a wedding, I hope we will be back to this beautiful venue.

My wife and I rented mountain shadows for our wedding. We had 4 other couples stay with us for the rehearsal and wedding night. The venue is really nice in letting people spread out inside, it worked out great for sleeping arrangements. We had about 75 people come out for our wedding and everyone fit comfortably underneath the barn area. The ceremony on the fake grass area overlooking the mountain was spectacular. The host was great and even let us stay an extra day. The fireplace area outside was a great hangout for pictures and cigars both nights and was cozy even though it was cold. We would love to rent the place out again in the heat of summer to enjoy the river, mountains, and pool.

After visiting Mountain Shadows, my (now) husband and I knew this was the place for our wedding. Although Mountain Shadows isn't specifically a "wedding venue", every aspect of planning the wedding was made easy by the Mountain Shadows team and Grant's Hardware (recommended by Mountain Shadows for table and chair rental). The house was gorgeous and had everything we needed for my family and my husband's family to mingle and spend time together over the weekend. Our guests were in awe over the view and my husband and I felt as though Shadows was truly our home for the weekend. The Shadow's staff was a text away for anything that came up and check-in and check-out was super easy. I truly feel blessed that we decided to have out wedding at Mountain Shadows and I thank Brian and his team!!!

Our group had such a great time up at the Mountain Shadows Retreat in Forest Hill. We went up for our graduation with about five people and stayed for about a week. We got to explore the surrounding lakes and rivers around Forest Hill/Tahoe National Forest. There’s tons of swimming holes and hiking trails nearby! The house is in the perfect location super close to the city’s market and a few restaurants but also isolated in a gated property overlooking the Auburn state park! The whole house and all of the rooms were very clean. The pool and backyard were nested on a spectacular view point in the mountains. I would highly recommend staying here!!

Mountain Shadows was the perfect setting for our Murder Mystery themed Holiday Party! The weather was dreary and cold, but the home was warm, toasty and spacious. There was ample room for our party. The views are spectacular and the retreat really feels like a mini-mansion in the woods. The place was clean and any questions we had were answered promptly. They were very accommodating as well. We could not have had a better experience anywhere else. While our experience was for a corporate Christmas party, I can easily see how this venue would be an idealistic for just about any event, including weddings, baby showers, reunions, etc.. I highly recommend this venue.

We took our team of 6 up to Mountain Shadows for a corporate retreat recently and couldn’t be happier with our stay! The house was spotless and the surroundings were gorgeous. 

The beds were so comfortable and the sheets were unbelievably soft so after a good night’s sleep, our team was ready to get to work the next day on team building and collaboration. We made our dinner together and the kitchen was well equipped to fit all 6 of us. We loved making s’mores by the fire and shared plenty of laughs throughout our stay.Brian was a wonderful host and helped us with any of our questions, made sure that we had everything we needed and was able to point us in the right direction for food and activities.Mountain Shadows left us feeling recharged with new ideas and even more motivated than before to get to work! We will definitely be back again.
